Summer of Olive Oil : Meet Broders’ EVOO
There’s something timeless about olive oil. Golden, unhurried, and endlessly versatile - it’s an ingredient that has graced tables for thousands of years. It doesn’t ask to be noticed, but once you do, it’s hard to imagine your kitchen without it.
For years now, we’ve been bottling our own Extra Virgin Olive Oil, pressed from 100% Nocellara del Belice olive grown and harvested in Southwest Sicily, where groves slop toward the sea and the air smells of sunshine and fresh herbs.
It has become more than a pantry staple. It’s the oil we start most meals with, the one we finish others with, and the one that gets passed around the table.

What’s In A Bottle?
Broders’ Extra Virgin Olive Oil is made from a single olive varietal: the buttery, vibrant Nocellara - the same olive behind the Castelvetrano table olive that adorns your summer charcuterie boards.
When pressed, these olives create a bright and fruity oil with just enough pepper to wake up the palate. It’s first cold-pressed meaning the oils extracted without heat or chemicals, preserving every bit of flavor and nutrient.
The oil is smooth but structured - the kind you can reach for every day, but still bring out when you have company over.
Some Basics Worth Knowing:
“Extra Virgin” is the highest possible grade of olive oil - but what does that actually mean?
To qualify as extra virgin, an olive oil must meet strict chemical and sensory standards. That includes:
Being made without heat or chemicals AKA cold-pressed
Containing no refined oil
Having lower acidity level (less than 0.8%)
Passing expert taste tests for fruitiness, bitterness and pungency.
Put simply, extra virgin olive oil is the freshest, most flavorful expression of the olive itself - the best oil from the best fruit. Some rule of thumbs when shopping for EVOO:
Non-commercial, small farms in Italy (the product is more likely to be rooted in tradition and therefore don’t include GMOs, additives, preservatives or dyes)
Cold-pressed - meaning the oil is extracted from olives using just pressure - not heat or chemical additives.
Bottled in glass (preferably a dark glass that protects the oil from sun)
Is Olive Oil Really Good For You?
Extra virgin olive oil isn’t just delicious - it’s deeply nourishing. It contains a powerhouse of elements that support heart, brain and skin health:
Monounsaturated fats: helps to reduce inflammation and support heart health.
Vitamin E: A natural antioxidant that supports immunity & skin repair (which is why olive oil makes a great ingredient in a face mask)!
Vitamin K: Important for bone & blood health
Polyphenols: Plant-based antioxidants that support brain health
Squalene: A natural emollient with anti-aging and anti-inflammatory benefits.
Olive oil is the primary fat source in the Mediterranean diet - which has been consistently recognized as the gold standard of living and eating.
