Sold Again!

Wonderful news! The original buyers of the house on our garden lot are back in the game. I guess issues got straightened out and they are buying the house again so we know we have permission and are good to go. Our leap of faith has been rewarded.
The watering has been working well too and all of our plants are healthy and growing! This first-year process is difficult. Because we all work various hours over the course of 7 days, it is next to impossible to have regular scheduled maintenance let alone continuation of planting and harvesting. Of course, my vision was of little armies of us all working together, maybe even singing songs in the garden and laughing a lot. Instead much of the weeding is getting done in little bits and those who have been putting the time in are truly dedicated because the garden looks awfully big when you are there alone. There just aren’t enough of us and we aren’t organised the way we will be in future seasons. Live and learn.
The lettuce is getting ready and we have to talk to Travis at Hands for Harvest about when, where and how to get it to the foodshelves. All is new.
We decided June was Hands for Harvest month at the deli. We are trying to collect donations to go to Travis so they can keep the program for all their gardens going. It takes $$$ to purchase equipment, seed, mulch, etc. Gardens are expensive! Food shelves need fresh healthy food. So far we have collected about $15.00 in our donation jar even though Broders’ is providing matching funds. So sad :(
